Honorary Members
|
|
It has been our pleasure to award Honorary Membership to people who have made a
contribution to our Society.

Our first Honorary Member is Louisa York, our first Web Mistress. Louisa has
put together our web site and maintained it over the past few years. It is a
tribute to her skill that we have had so many "hits" on the site (over 2000 in
our first year). Recently, Louisa has upgraded the web site to a very high
standard. Many entries in our guest book praise the ease of site navigation.
Many thanks Louisa.

Our second Honorary Member is Pierre Snijders of "Aquarium Royal Blue" in
Helmond, The Netherlands. For the past 18 years, our society has visited
Holland once a year to visit shops and purchase fish. Almost every year, we
have arranged to visit Pierre. His hospitality, advice and help have been
greatly appreciated.

Paul McFarlane of the Hamilton & District Aquarist Society in Canada was
the first overseas contributor to our web site. His article on Bleeding Heart
tetras old and new, is most informative and has prompted others to try breeding
them. Our picture shows Paul and his wife Sally at the Canadian Association Of
Aquarist Clubs Annual Convention in 2003. Paul and Sally McFarlane

Ilse Lass & Guido Hoener of Fischhaus Zepkow feature in our article on
their breeding establishment. They are extremely accomplished aquarists and
accept the challenge of breeding 'difficult' fish with great success. It has
been our pleasure to visit them twice and each time, we have returned with a
wealth of knowledge and some superb fish. Their fact sheet on Microrasbora
erythromicron should inspire aquarists to try to emulate them.

Colin was elected as an Honorary member in 2007. Colin was a member of the
Society but ill health and distance meant that he was unable to continue. Never
the less, Colin has continued with his fish keeping activities. He has been an
aquarist for many years and is an accomplished breeder of some of the more
'difficult' species. Cardinal and Rummy nose tetras, and Harlequin rasboras are
all bred with apparent ease in Colin's fish house. He has produced fact sheets
for the web site and more are in the pipe line. We are very pleased to have
Colin as an honorary member.

Honorary membership of the Society was granted to Graham Cottle in Jan 2007.
Graham became our web master when Louisa found that she was unable to continue.
Since then, the web site has been rebuilt, updated and further modifications
are planned for the future.
